How can anyone not love Girara? Just look at him! He’s completely hapless — no one could be scared by this guy, right?

This is obviously a different style from the other Girara poster I have, and apparently is a tie-up poster (meaning co-promotional with something, like the Totoro Japan Rail poster and others). However, I have not yet established exactly what this is a tie-up WITH. I’m going to have to do some translation on some of the fine print to figure out what the real deal is.

Anyway, a very cool poster, pretty rare, and I’m beyond pleased to have it.

One of three styles for the breakthrough Swedish film in the B2 size — there is also a tatekan style as well. All are pretty similar to each other in general design — reminds me a bit of the Polish poster for Blow-Up; therefore I like it .

JAPANESE MOVIE POSTER INVENTORY UPDATE

Big post tonight. First, the poster above is for one of my favorite Japanese movies (although I’m no Japanese film scholar), Twilight Samurai. If you are a Japanese film neophyte, this one is very easy to watch, is not focused on swordplay, and is, yes, touching. Highly recommend this one as well as The Hidden Blade.

For reference, this is the ORIGINAL release for Bullitt. Frequently there are (especially) eBay sellers who SHOULD be knowledgeable enough about their posters but get this one wrong… they represent the 70’s re-release as the original ‘68. It’s easy to tell, though, since of course the Eirin number starts with 43 on the 68, and there is the distinctive big blue “W” in the lower right corner for Warner Brothers.

Anyway, this one’s a new arrival and in excellent condition with no pinholes, so I’m pleased. I also just got in about 40 other titles, so if you’re interested keep your eyes peeled on the blog for a list.

This is one of my favorite posters as I am a big Audrey fan and this one is right up there with Breakfast at Tiffany’s as far as I’m concerned. This is from the 1965 re-release in Japan and frankly I like it better than the original 50’s release as far as design. The 50’s release is beyondo expensive in Japan and I’m not sure I’ll ever pick it up. Maybe sometime I’ll try to track down a photo for comparison purposes here.

They really know how to put together a re-release poster in Japan. I like this design even better than the original — I know, blasphemy! This is a double bill for Cherbourg and Rochefort and it is quickly disappearing after its release. I also have the B1 coming soon — can’t wait to see that too…
